A little bit about Kieran…

Kieran McGhie passed away on December 21, 2014 after a 2 year battle with cancer.  Kieran began her skating with our club on our Canskate program.

She worked her way up to a competitive and accomplished skater until she was diagnosed.
She loved to be on the ice and still had her first pair of skates hanging on her bedroom wall.  She was adored by all of the coaches and skaters.

She had a positive attitude and infectious smile and will always be remembered and missed.

Canuck Place

Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is more than a physical location. It is a living philosophy; an evolving spirit of care that is deeply rooted in compassion and a strong desire to create lasting change in the lives of children and families.
Canuck Place played a very important role in Kieran’s life  and to honour her, every year, Maple Ridge Skating club hosts a Spring Gala fundraiser to help this wonderful organization.
For our 2017 fundraiser, we even got a Hockey Stick, signed by Daniel Sedin and donated by The Canuck Place to raffle!!!
Up to date, we’ve raised over $5,000.00 and will keep fundraising every year.
